LOVE WITH ARTHUR LEE: GLASTONBURY 2003
Friday 8 September 2006 10.30pm-11.30pm
Arthur Lee and Love performed a brilliant set at the Glastonbury festival in 2003, which was recorded as part of BBC Four's coverage of the summer festivals.
Although Love were only together for two years they typified West Coast progressive rock and produced Forever Changes, one of the most enduring albums of the period. After that high point the band lost momentum and subsequent recordings were widely seen as disappointing. Founder member Arthur Lee, often referred to as a musical genius, became ever more erratic and in the 1990s he was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.
In 2001 Forever Changes was reissued with additional tracks to renewed enthusiasm and a live version entitled The Forever Changes Concert was released in July 2003.
