Diamond Dynasty
- Although this was not the DD stream, a few things about DD in 17 were revealed.
- There are 30 new Legends
- Preorder Bonus Rookie Ken Griffey Jr. is an 81 Overall. Full stats available here: (thanks to /u/aquax101)
- Another new Legend is 1958 Postseason Warren Spahn, 97 overall. Full Stats and Pitches available here: (again, thanks to /u/aquax101) Note the screwball. He also has a very interesting windup, which can be seen here
- They are attempting to make DD more "dynamic"
New Throw Engine
- Fielders now know how long they have to throw the ball, and will act as such
- Animations are now smoother, specifically on double plays
- 3-6-3 and 3-6-1 double plays are improved, and actually possible now
- Pitcher is now more effective at covering first base
Catcher Throwing Meter
- When attempting to throw out runners, a meter now allows the player better control over the catcher's throw
- Meter has 3 sections; Red, which results in the ball being thrown away; Yellow, which yields a poor, but not uncatchable throw; Green, which gives a seemingly near perfect throw
- Meter is tied to all other throwing meters, and thus can be turned off
New Ball Physics
- The ball now acts as if it was hit by a bat, and not a wall
- this allows for slicing and bloop hits
Out of Position
- Much steeper penalties; When Kluber was placed at catcher he was unable to catch even a straight fastball, and also had trouble throwing to bases
Bunting
- Bunting has been addressed. It now requires a higher bunting attribute to be able to consistently lay down good bunts. However, this does not seem perfect, and bunt cheesing is most definitely still possible.
Humanity AI
- The AI now acts more human like, and is not all knowing.
Retro Mode
- Move batter around box
- Only one button is used
- Pitcher moves around mound
- Pitch speed and movement is controlled while pitch is in air; No prepitch pitch selection
- Batters (seem) to have 3 attributes; Contact, Speed, Power
- Users can play on the same team or against each other, and up to four players can play at once
- Ken Griffey Jr. is a commentator, although it is unknown in what capacity
